America First: Trump’s Bold Plan to Protect Borders and Bring Jobs Back Home

President-elect Donald Trump is wasting no time in delivering on his promise to put America First. On his first day in office, Trump has vowed to implement sweeping tariffs on goods imported from Mexico, Canada, and China, signaling a decisive move to safeguard American jobs, secure the border, and combat the fentanyl crisis.
Standing Strong Against Mexico and Canada
Mexico and Canada, the United States’ largest trading partners, account for nearly 30% of trade. Trump announced a 25% tariff on all imported goods from both nations, framing it as a necessary step to address border security and drug trafficking.
“On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders,” Trump declared on Truth Social. “This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!”
Trump’s firm stance sends a clear message: America’s borders and economy are not up for compromise.
Taking the Fight to China
Trump also announced a 10% tariff on Chinese imports, holding Beijing accountable for its failure to curb the flow of fentanyl precursors into the U.S. His move highlights the urgency of protecting American lives and industries.
“I have had many talks with China about the massive amounts of drugs, in particular Fentanyl, being sent into the United States — But to no avail,” Trump said. “Until such time as they stop, we will be charging China an additional 10% Tariff, above any additional Tariffs, on all of their many products coming into the United States of America.”
China's attempts to downplay its role in the crisis did not deter Trump. Instead, he reaffirmed his commitment to holding China accountable for its actions.
Canada and Mexico Scramble to Respond
Canada, a nation that benefits heavily from free trade with the U.S., stressed the importance of the bilateral relationship.
“Canada places the highest priority on border security and the integrity of our shared border,” Canadian officials said in a joint statement. But their measured response shows they understand the stakes—Trump isn’t bluffing.
Meanwhile, Mexican officials have remained silent, underscoring the gravity of Trump’s economic plan.
America First in Action
By targeting unfair trade practices and prioritizing American workers, Trump’s bold plan aims to rebuild the nation’s manufacturing base and stem the tide of drugs and illegal immigration.
Critics may cry foul, but the message is clear: Under Trump, America’s borders, workers, and families come first. His leadership is already making waves, and this is just the beginning.
Stay tuned—Day One is shaping up to be a turning point for the nation.
